About the photographer
Nilgün Gencer
I was born in Izmir in 1951 and graduated from the Department
of Architecture at Ankara Gazi University. After a short
professional career, I decided to focus on my family.
Since I love taking pictures, my children started calling me
“Japanese mom.” As a family that is fond of traveling,
we met with the photography group “40 Haramiler” led by
Muammer Yanmaz on a trip abroad.
I took lessons from him and attended his classes. My interest in
photography turned into a passion. My perspective of the world
gained a new meaning. I’ve come to enjoy traveling the world
with my husband and taking pictures as a “Harami” and
“Photography Wanderer.” I will have a nice archive to leave
my grandchildren.
